Valentines weekend 2011.. and more snow

One of our favorite restaurants. With it being five minutes from our house... it's one of our first choices.

Our first Valentines day as the Claytons

This was the red velvet sunday...  really good!!
And... he wasn't crazy about me taking the picture...shocker... But a good sport as usual :)

February 21-2011... Just as we were beginning to see grass again, and thinking we were maybe going into an early Spring?? After all it was a warm 40 degrees yesterday....
NOPE... 2+ inches of snow on the driveway when we woke up. Guess we will need that 50lbs of salt we bought a couple weeks ago after all :)

More snow... and the New Jersey way of dealing with road kill.

Another Snow day!

Not going to lie... it was fun the first couple times.. but now.... not so much! :)

My sweet husband shoveled the whole driveway so my cold wouldn't get any worse... and so I could get out of the garage to go to my hair cut... Love him!!

Ever since we moved up here I thought it was weird that instead of having squirrel road kill (which you never see) on the roads.. they have deer!! ALL over the place... AND they don't remove them very frequently. I'm talking dead deer carcasses on every other road. Like last week, every day when we went to the gym there were  vultures eating the backside out of a deer.. a frozen deer. I tried to take a picture while Chris was driving.. buuuttt it didn't work so well ;) Had never seen birds that big up that close and personal... I'm easily fascinated up here.
I guess today was the lucky day....maybe it's the third Friday of every month that they pick up the streets??? Will check back next month :)

The picture is a little blurry, but it's a bunch of deer road kill on the back of a city truck.... YUCK!!!

Snow drifts, digging out, plowing and salting...

Some of the words that came to mind last night....

We learned a lot last night... I really didn't know what a snow drift was.. now I know... and I know they are dangerous when driving...thanks to  Brittany H.
We dug out the Mountaineer.. it was under many feet of snow thanks to the neighborhood snow plowing service ( which plowed every driveway but ours...hmmm) Getting the bad end of the deal as renters..... We were looking around as we were the only ones shoveling our driveway, the others were clean of snow. And... they were going to tow our car (we learned from the neighbor) but instead they boxed it in with snow for us.. how nice of them...  Oh well.. it was a first, and hopefully a last, experience for us :)

These boots are AWESOME!! Thank you so much Carole!! They were perfect for all of the following.. don't know what I would have done with out them!!

LOVE the Hunter rain boots.. cute and very practical! They were a happy birthday from the Claytons.

We have come along way since last winter... we really didn't know how the whole salt and snow situation worked... still a little unclear as to how much salt to use... but got it down.... Chris referred to my first attempt of  salting as like salting food... suggested maybe I use more salt :)

This would be our driveway when we came home from a night in Baskingridge...

I never knew shoveling a driveway was so physically taxing! Goodness that was hard work.. and Chris did most of it.. I was mainly there for the memory making and picture taking :)

Crazy how much snow there is!

Thought we would like to remember these moments years from now.. even though Chris would probably like to forget about them right now.. but I thought it was a good memory.. and good for the blog :)
Whoever came up with the idea to put salt on snow/ ice to make it melt is a rich genius!! I don't know how in the world you would do it if you didn't know the salt secret!

Snow days!!

Snow days are kind of fun... if you get to stay inside all day :) Not all that fun when you have to get out in it all....

Ohhhh it's chilly here!! That is crazy cold!!
Our first snow of the year..

Snow last week (early Jan 2011)

Lots and lots of it

He's so cute!!

It was a bonding experience...

A mini Christmas tree..

Our friend Josh is a car clearing wizzard

It says Rhode Island.. but we think Canada

Oh the things you learn while living with the snow.. who knew to put the windshield wipers up... works  much better that way :)

Extended Christmas in Midland

Such a wonderful time in Midland! Great food, football, relaxing, shopping and a great Christmas!! Thank you all so much!

Three little white dogs..

Lots of puzzle working... Carole and Courtney are genius puzzle workers.. me.. not so much... Chirs and Sloan.. the color blind thing and puzzle working doesn't work so well ;)

I love Christmas decorations!! These will have a special place in our house next year! YAY!!
